Work Examples

Over the years, we have provided a range of accessibility and inclusion related services to our clients — including Fortune 500 companies — and developed projects based on their unique needs.

Google Ananta

As accessibility consultants for Google Ananta (external link), we played a key role in shaping an inclusive workplace by conducting a comprehensive design appraisal, reviewing mock-ups, and leading interim and post-occupancy user testing. Our involvement extended beyond compliance to innovation, introducing features that enhance both usability and experience. These included tactile carpets for navigational support, accessible working pods tailored for diverse needs, user-friendly accessible lockers, quiet workspaces for improved focus and well-being, and strategic color zoning to aid in intuitive wayfinding. Through this integrated approach, we contributed to creating a workspace that reflects Google’s commitment to accessibility and inclusive design.

Hindustan Unilever

DEOC conducted comprehensive accessibility audits across all factories, R&D offices, and headquarters, providing hands-on implementation support to drive accessibility improvements. We played a crucial role in retrofitting several older factories — some with significant structural challenges — to make them accessible and inclusive. In addition to physical accessibility, we also provided consultancy on reasonable accommodation and policy development to support the company’s efforts in establishing inclusive workplaces for persons with disabilities. Our involvement helped lay the foundation for a more inclusive and enabling work environment across their operations.

Museum of Art and Photography

At the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP), Bengaluru (external link), DEOC was engaged in the design appraisal not only of the building infrastructure but also of the museum’s exhibits and public-facing programs, including their art appreciation education initiatives. Our work extended beyond physical accessibility to shaping inclusive practices across the institution. We supported MAP in establishing its inclusion framework by drafting the job description for an Inclusion Officer and ensuring that all their webinars were made accessible through the use of captions and Indian Sign Language interpretation. Through this comprehensive approach, we helped MAP take meaningful steps toward becoming a truly inclusive cultural space.

Brookfield Properties

Brookfield (external link) engaged us to enhance the accessibility of their base buildings across India. As part of this collaboration, several buildings were successfully retrofitted to meet accessibility standards. In addition to physical infrastructure improvements, we were also tasked with training their staff to provide appropriate support to persons with disabilities, fostering a more inclusive environment. To ensure long-term impact, we developed comprehensive accessibility design guidelines for their architects and designers, enabling them to create inclusive spaces in all future developments. This holistic approach has helped embed accessibility into Brookfield’s operations and culture.

Embassy Office Parks

Embassy (external link) engaged DEOC to make their existing buildings accessible in line with national and international accessibility standards. As part of this initiative, over 80 buildings were retrofitted with key accessibility features, including accessible entrances, reserved parking spaces, accessible lifts and staircases, and inclusive food courts. This large-scale effort significantly improved the usability of their spaces for persons with disabilities, reflecting Embassy’s commitment to creating inclusive and barrier-free environments across their portfolio.

DLF

With DLF (external link), our work went beyond auditing several existing buildings — we were also involved in the design appraisal of new developments, including a crematorium. As a result of our engagement, several accessibility features have been enhanced across their properties, ensuring a more inclusive and respectful environment for all. Our ongoing collaboration with DLF demonstrates a strong commitment to integrating accessibility into both functional and sensitive spaces.

Nestlé

With Nestlé (external link), we supported a comprehensive inclusion initiative by reviewing all their policies and processes to ensure compliance and disability-friendliness. Our contributions included drafting their Equal Opportunity Policy and Reasonable Accommodation Guidelines. In addition, we conducted accessibility audits across all their buildings and factories, and were involved in the design appraisal of their Sanand factory. As a result of these sustained efforts, Nestlé is now significantly ahead in its inclusion journey, setting a strong example for accessible and inclusive workplaces.

We have been actively engaged in providing comprehensive consulting services on disability inclusion to UN (external link) agencies such as UNDP, UNICEF, and UNESCO. Our work encompasses reviewing and advising on policies — including procurement and emergency preparedness — to ensure alignment with the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS). We have conducted extensive training sessions for their staff to foster a culture of inclusivity and awareness. Additionally, we have performed accessibility audits of their offices and facilitated the retrofitting of heritage buildings, to enhance accessibility.

Amazon

Amazon India (external website), renowned for its customer-centric approach, has been actively working to ensure that its workforce reflects the diverse customer population. The company has undertaken significant initiatives to enhance accessibility across its facilities, including fulfillment centers, throughout India.

DEOC has played a pivotal role in strategizing and implementing accessibility measures in hundreds of Amazon buildings across the country. These efforts aim to create an inclusive environment that accommodates the needs of all employees, ensuring equal opportunities and access for individuals with disabilities.

Microsoft

Microsoft (external link) was one of our first clients to approach accessibility in a truly comprehensive manner, with their own internal standards defined as Level A, B, and C accessibility. DEOC has been engaged by Microsoft to support retrofitting of their buildings to meet Level A accessibility requirements. This collaboration reflects Microsoft’s proactive and structured approach to creating inclusive spaces, and their leadership in setting internal benchmarks for accessibility within the corporate sector.
